Name: Mary Gamblen
Died on: Sunday, 3rd May 1942
Died at: 50 Emmanuel Road, Hastings
Additional Information: Mary Gamblen, aged 78, was killed when four ME 109’s strafed and bombed Emmanuel Vicarage, Vicarage Road, Emmanuel Road, Barley Lane, Middle Road, The Broadway and Oakfield Road. Four others were killed in the raid, with 35 others injured, 12 seriously.
Mary was the wife of James Gamblen and lived at 50 Emmanuel Road, Hastings.
I was unable to locate Mary’s grave marker in the main area of WW2 war graves, so she is likely buried else where on site. I will look to find it when I revisit Hastings Cemetery.
