Name: Edith Ada Wilmshurst
Wounded on: Saturday 17th October 1942
Wounded at: 43 Pevensey Road, St Leonards
Additional Information: Edith Wilmshurst, aged 65, was wounded when two Fokker Wulf 109s dropped HE bombs on St Columbia’s Church, Warrior Gardens and Pevensey Road. She died on 18th October 1942 at the Buchanan Hospital. One other person was killed in the attack, with 16 others injured, 8 seriously.
Edith was married to Frederick Wilmshurst. She lived at 21 Eversfield Mews, Western Road, St Leonards
I was unable to locate Edith’s grave marker in the main area of WW2 war graves, so she is likely buried else where on site. I will look to find it when I revisit Hastings Cemetery.
