Name: Ethel Alice Fowler
Wounded on: Tuesday, 2nd February 1943
Wounded at: 7 Moscow Road, Clive Vale, Hastings
Additional Information: Ethel Fowler, aged 56, was wounded when an unknown number of planes dropped several 2,000lb bombs and 14 HE bombs on St John’s Church, Upper St Leonards, Ashbrook Road, Christ Church, Ore, Moscow Road, Alfred Road & Cumberland Gardens. She died the next day at the Municipal Hospital. Three others were killed in the raid, with a further five injured, three seriously.
Ethel was amrried to Joseph Bonham Fowler. She lived at 7 Moscow Road.
I was unable to locate Ethel’s grave marker in the main area of WW2 war graves, so she is likely buried else where on site. I will look to find it when I revisit Hastings Cemetery.
