Ludlow, Annie Kate

Hastings Cemetery

Name: Annie Kate Ludlow

Wounded on: Saturday, 5th October 1940

Wounded at: 12 Wellington Road, Hastings

Additional Information: Annie Ludlow, aged 71, was wounded near her home when a lone bomber dropped 12 HE bombs on the Bedford Arms Hotel, Queens Road, Milward Road, Wellington Road, Cricket Ground, Stonefield Road and Wallinger’s Walk. She died on 6th October at the Royal East Sussex Hospital. Eight people were killed in the raid with a further nine injured, eight seriously.

Annie was the widow of James John Ludlow and lived at 12 Wellington Road.

I was unable to locate Annie’s grave marker in the main area of WW2 war graves, so she is likely buried else where on site. I will look to find it when I revisit Hastings Cemetery.
