Cooper, Alice Sophie Paston

Hastings Cemetery

Name: Alice Sophie Paston Cooper

Died on: Saturday 17th October 1942

Died at: 43 Pevensey Road, St Leonards

Additional Information: Alice Cooper, aged 71, was killed when two Fokker Wulf 109s dropped HE bombs on St Columbia’s Church, Warrior Gardens and Pevensey Road. One other person was killed in the attack, with 16 others injured, 8 seriously.

Alice was the daughter of Revd William Astley and Lucy Elizabeth Cooper of Froyle Vicarage, Alton, Hampshire. She lived at 43 Pevensey Road.

I was unable to locate Alice’s grave marker in the main area of WW2 war graves, so she is likely buried else where on site. I will look to find it when I revisit Hastings Cemetery.
