Name: Amos Prior
Died on: Saturday, 5th October 1940
Died at: Bedford Arms Hotel (now Santander Bank), Queens Road, Hastings
Additional Information: Amos Prior, aged 64, was wounded when a lone bomber dropped 12 HE bombs on the Bedford Arms Hotel, Queens Road, Milward Road, Wellington Road, Cricket Ground, Stonefield Road and Wallinger’s Walk. Eight people were killed in the raid with a further nine injured, eight seriously.
Amos was the husband of Mrs E M M Prior and lived at 255 Mount Pleasant Road.
I was unable to locate Amos’s grave marker in the main area of WW2 war graves, so he is likely buried else where on site. I will look to find it when I revisit Hastings Cemetery.
